For many years, the now-terrible Cartoon Network had a great respect for classic cartoons. For several years, they even created themed marathons of classics, ranging from lengths of 3 hours to 3 days! One such marathon was the "Greatest Cartoon Countdown". Occasionally, CN would create snippets of new animation for these specials.
Here's a bit with Owl Jolson himself introducing "I Love To Singa". The discussion his "Super Bowl Halftime Show" refers to yet another long-time tradition...CN's mock-Super Bowl "character vs. character" marathons. Appropriate for Super Bowl weekend, don;t you think?

Is it possible that this cartoon got so popular only because it was featured in the South Park pilot?
I rememeber them but, they were refer them as "The Big Game", I love them all. It's a shame they pulled the plug on this great thing they had after "The Big Game XXIX: Bugs vs. Daffy", The only thing i hated about "The Big Game" is that they dissed The Cattanooga Cats on their "documentry" of this event
The dropping of the Big Game special marked the beginning of the end for Cartoon Network.
With mostly crummy cartoons (if you want to call their shows that), it's unlikely that will be revived, especially since the show the "pregame" team was on (HBO's Inside the NFL) is no more.
(Then again, two of the hosts; Bob Costas and Cris Collinsworth, as well as John Madden are at NBC now. Wouldn't it be something if NBC managed to get that before next year's Super Bowl; which would be the first for the Peacock since January 1998)
